Topics under discussion at the capital today (3/10/15) are: .  Senate Health Policy Committee – use of federal $ to extend health care insurance coverage to nearly 1 million poor. .House Justice Appropriations Subcommittee – Discuss Florida Department of Corrections Budget. .Senate Criminal Justice Committee  will require a unanimous vote of the jury to recommend death penalty (SB 664) .Senate Community Affairs Committee – Drone discussion .Discussion on moving presidential primary back to the 3rd Tuesday in March.

GOPhers try to sabotage President’s Nuclear Plan with Iran

NY Times front page accuses Mitch McConnel (R-Ky), Ted Cruz (R-Tx) Tom Cotton (R-Ark) Rand Pal (R-Ky), and their “Traitor” GOP colleagues of trying to “sabotage” President Obama’s nuclear talks with Iran.  These men and 46 other Republicans senators ignored protocol and sent an open letter to Iran’s leaders, warning that whatever agreement reached with the President would not be bound by the constitution. VP Biden punched bak with a stern statement condemning the insubordinate move saying “the decision to undercut OUR president and circumvent our constitutional system offends him as a matter of principal.

Ray Pilon presents HB 269

Ray Pilon will present HB 269 in committee 3/10/15.  The bill will give access to drugs being tested by FDA but not yet approved for terminally ill patients where all else has failed.  There will not be any liability to doctors, hospitals or drug manufacturers.

Carmel Resource Center, United Community Center, and Manatee Metro Action Plan held the MLK Day of Service Forum entitled Bridging the Gap Between Law Enforcement and Minority Community on Monday, January 19, 2015 at the 13th Ave. Dream Center.  Panelist included Chief Rick Wells (City of Palmetto), Chief Michael Radzilowski (City of Bradenton), Sheriff Brad Steube (Manatee Co. NAACP asks Boys & Girls Board of Directors to remove CEO

The Manatee County NAACP has called for the removal of the CEO of Manatee Boys & Girls Club for racist and offensive words used in an email to staff.  His email stated he will not hire anyone who meets the criteria below: 1. Boys with dreds 2. Teen age girls who had babies 3. College  drop outs 4. Anyone with tatooos, body piercing 5.
